In a session reflecting the Kingdom’s support for the Gulf integration process, the Saudi Shura Council approved the draft unified industrial regulation law for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in a strategic step aimed at unifying the legislative structure and enhancing industrial competitiveness in the region.

This step was taken during the first regular session of the second year of the ninth term, chaired by His Excellency the Speaker of the Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh. The Council commended the contents of the royal address delivered by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, which praised the Council's role in supporting the legislative process and modernizing regulations in line with best international practices.

Continued support for the health insurance system

The Council also discussed the National Health Insurance Center's annual report, with several members raising concerns about the importance of streamlining procedures, expediting approvals, and implementing the unified medical record system. These discussions were part of the Kingdom's efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services and ensure beneficiary satisfaction, in line with the principles of transparency and effective governance.

The housing sector: an economic driver and a pivotal factor in quality of life

Commenting on the role of the housing sector, Council Member Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Mubarak stressed that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 has charted a comprehensive course that enhances the quality of life of citizens, and that the housing sector is a key driver in stimulating the economy and developing non-oil GDP.

He pointed out that housing projects have economic impacts extending to multiple sectors, including building materials, contracting, and logistics, in addition to their role in attracting investment and boosting the real estate market. He also emphasized the importance of developing infrastructure, facilitating access to finance, and improving systems to support the most vulnerable groups and achieve the goals of the Vision programs.

The Shura Council’s decisions revolve around themes that all intersect with a comprehensive vision led by the Kingdom under the leadership of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a vision that consolidates integration, promotes economic diversification, and strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position in its regional and global environment.
