Yemeni Minister: Saudi Arabia's role in Yemen is a pillar of stability and strategic depth

Yemeni Minister of State Abdulghani Jamil affirmed that the Saudi role in Yemen, under the leadership of King Salman and the Crown Prince, represents true support, praising the Kingdom’s efforts to end the crisis and restore the state.

The Yemeni Minister of State and Mayor of Sana'a, Major General Abdul Ghani Jamil, affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains the true supporter and strategic depth of the Republic of Yemen during these difficult times. He noted that the steadfast Saudi positions, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, embody the highest ideals of brotherhood and neighborliness, and reflect a sincere commitment to ending the bloodshed and ongoing suffering of the Yemeni people.

Saudi Arabia continues its efforts to establish peace

Major General Jamil explained that Riyadh's efforts to de-escalate the conflict are not a spur-of-the-moment decision, but rather stem from a strategic vision aimed at restoring the Yemeni state and its institutions, and preserving Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He noted that Yemenis highly value the strategic patience the Kingdom demonstrates in dealing with the intransigence of the Houthi militias, and its tireless pursuit of a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that ends the war and establishes a new era of stability.

These statements come within the context of a long history of Saudi support for Yemen, which extends beyond the political and military aspects of supporting constitutional legitimacy to include economic, developmental, and humanitarian dimensions. Saudi programs, such as the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, play a pivotal role in mitigating the severity of the humanitarian crisis and supporting the Yemeni economy to prevent its collapse, thus confirming that the Kingdom is a lifeline for Yemen during its crises.

The painful reality of Sana'a under militia control

Speaking about the internal situation, the mayor of Sana'a addressed the tragic reality the city is experiencing today, describing it as suffering under the weight of the Houthi project, which is alien to the identity of Yemenis and their authentic Arab culture. He emphasized that Sana'a is living under occupation, its political will and decision-making power usurped, and its residents are suffering from systematic restrictions that affect their livelihoods and their personal and public freedoms.

Despite the grimness of the situation, Major General Jamil stressed that this situation is temporary and will not last, emphasizing that Sana'a, in the hearts of its people, still pulsates with the spirit of the republic, and awaits the decisive moment when it will regain its glory and its natural position as a capital that embraces all Yemenis of all backgrounds, far removed from narrow dynastic projects.

Yemenis' aspirations towards a state of law

Regarding the aspirations of the Yemeni people for the future, the minister indicated that Yemenis yearn to live under the rule of law, a state of equal citizenship that does not discriminate between citizens based on lineage or geographic region. He emphasized that the future everyone seeks is the restoration of the hijacked state institutions and the redirection of all efforts and resources towards development, construction, and reconstruction, instead of the senseless wars waged by the Houthi group.

He concluded his remarks by emphasizing the importance of Yemen returning to a happy and stable state, so that it can be an active contributor to the security and stability of its neighbors and its regional environment, stressing that the Saudi role, under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, represents a fundamental pillar for achieving this goal, given the political weight and international standing that the Kingdom enjoys, enabling it to lead the peace process in the region.
