The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, sent congratulatory cables to His Excellency the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of his country's National Day. In their cables, the wise leadership expressed their sincerest congratulations and best wishes for good health and happiness to His Excellency, and for continued progress and prosperity to the government and people of friendly Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the deep ties that bind the two countries.
This gracious greeting comes within the context of the strong diplomatic relations that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, relations that have spanned decades and are characterized by joint cooperation and mutual respect. Bosnians celebrate “State Day” on November 25th of each year, a historical anniversary dating back to 1943, when the first meeting of the Anti-Fascist State Council for the National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBiH) was held. This meeting laid the legal and political foundations for the restoration of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an equal republic within the former Yugoslav Federation, affirming its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On the bilateral level, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has consistently been at the forefront of supporting the stability and development of Bosnia and Herzegovina since its independence in the 1990s. The Kingdom has contributed significantly to reconstruction efforts, infrastructure development, and support for educational and cultural institutions. The King Fahd Cultural Center in Sarajevo stands as a testament to this cultural and civilizational support, being one of the largest cultural centers in the Balkans and contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of cultural exchange between the two peoples.
In recent years, relations between Riyadh and Sarajevo have witnessed remarkable development in the economic and tourism sectors. Bosnia and Herzegovina has become a preferred destination for Saudi tourists thanks to its stunning natural beauty and the facilities it offers, which has boosted direct flights and trade. Joint committees between the two countries are also working to explore new investment opportunities that align with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to build diverse international strategic partnerships while simultaneously supporting Bosnia's economic development plans.
These official cables reflect the Saudi leadership’s continued commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with friendly countries, affirming the Kingdom’s active presence on the international stage, and its ongoing support for everything that would achieve security, stability, and prosperity for friendly peoples around the world.
