The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince offer their condolences to the King of Morocco following the Fez incident

The Saudi leadership sent condolences to the King of Morocco regarding the victims of the collapse of two buildings in Fez, affirming the Kingdom's solidarity and the deep fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect them - sent two cables of condolence and sympathy to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco, following the tragic news of the collapse of two buildings in the old city of Fez, and the resulting deaths and injuries.

In his telegram, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to His Majesty the King of Morocco, the families of the deceased, and the brotherly Moroccan people, praying to Almighty God to bestow His mercy and forgiveness upon the deceased, grant them eternal peace in Paradise, and grant the injured a speedy recovery. He also prayed that God protect the Kingdom of Morocco and its people from all harm and misfortune. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince also sent a similar telegram, expressing his profound sorrow at this tragic loss and affirming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering support and solidarity with its brothers in Morocco during this difficult time.

This expression of condolence comes within the framework of the deep-rooted and historic fraternal relations that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Morocco. The relationship between the two countries is characterized by profound strategic and historical ties that extend back decades. The Saudi leadership has always been quick to stand by its Arab and Muslim brothers and sisters in various crises and events, reflecting the Kingdom's leading role in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity among Arab peoples.

On the other hand, this incident highlights the challenges facing ancient historical cities like Fez, a global cultural and human heritage site. Preserving the urban fabric of old cities requires continuous effort, and when such tragic events occur, they evoke feelings of sadness and sympathy not only locally, but also regionally and internationally, given the place these cities hold in the Arab and Islamic consciousness.

This official Saudi solidarity carries profound political and humanitarian significance, underscoring the shared destiny of the two brotherly nations. Saudi diplomacy extends beyond political and economic considerations, prioritizing the humanitarian and social dimensions, viewing the tragedy in Morocco as a tragedy for the Kingdom itself. This was clearly demonstrated by the swift official response and the dispatch of messages of condolence and sympathy from the highest levels of Saudi leadership.
