Saudi Interior Minister discusses strengthening security cooperation with Algerian President

Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud met with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Algeria to discuss ways to strengthen security cooperation and the long-standing bilateral relations.

In the context of strengthening fraternal relations and joint Arab action, and based on the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, met yesterday with His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, during an official reception at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Algiers.

The Minister of Interior began the meeting by conveying the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, to His Excellency the Algerian President, and their wishes for the sisterly Republic of Algeria, its leadership, government and people, to continue progress, prosperity, security and stability.

The depth of historical relations between Riyadh and Algiers

This visit is a continuation of the long history of deep-rooted relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, characterized by their strength and strategic depth. The leaderships of both countries work continuously to coordinate their positions in international and regional forums, serving the interests of their brotherly peoples and supporting the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations. These reciprocal meetings demonstrate the shared commitment to enhancing bilateral coordination across various political, economic, and security fields.

The importance of security coordination in light of current challenges

The meeting included a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on existing security cooperation between the two countries. This cooperation is of paramount importance given the security challenges facing the region and the world, necessitating concerted efforts to combat transnational crime, counter terrorist threats, enhance information security, and exchange expertise in policing and technology. Saudi-Algerian security coordination is a cornerstone for strengthening regional stability, both in the Arabian Gulf region and in North Africa and the Sahel.

Accompanying delegation and reception ceremony

The meeting was attended on the Saudi side by a high-level delegation that included Assistant Minister of Interior Dr. Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al-Falih, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Algeria Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Busairi, in addition to the Director General of the Minister’s Office for Studies and Research Major General Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Arwan, and the Director General of Legal Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Issa.

On the Algerian side, the meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Boualem Boualem, and the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Urban Planning, Said Saïoud, where at the conclusion of the talks, the need to continue communication and coordination in order to achieve the aspirations of the leadership of the two countries and their peoples was emphasized.
