This activity is manifested through high-level visits, including to Washington, D.C., and Port Sudan, reflecting the comprehensive nature of the Saudi vision in its dealings with international allies and regional partners.
Strengthening the strategic partnership in Washington
Within the framework of the historical and strategic relations that bind Riyadh and Washington, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah arrived in the United States on an official visit of significant importance in its timing and substance. His Highness is scheduled to hold extensive talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, focusing on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, in addition to discussing pressing regional and international issues.
This visit is of particular importance given the role played by the Kingdom and the United States in maintaining the security of the region, as the issues of de-escalation in the Middle East, combating terrorism, and economic cooperation are expected to top the agenda of the talks, confirming the depth of joint coordination on critical issues.
Supporting legitimacy and stability in Sudan
In parallel with the activity in Washington, and in confirmation of the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the stability of neighboring countries, the plane of Deputy Foreign Minister Engineer Walid Al-Khuraiji landed in Port Sudan, the temporary administrative capital of Sudan, where he was received by the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
During the meeting, Engineer Al-Khuraiji conveyed the greetings of the Saudi leadership and its wishes for security and stability for Sudan and its people, emphasizing the Kingdom's unwavering support for preserving Sudan's unity, territorial integrity, and legitimate institutions. The two sides discussed developments in the field and the political situation, as well as efforts to end the war and alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people.
Background of the Saudi role in the Sudanese crisis
This visit is not a fleeting event, but rather an extension of persistent Saudi efforts that began with the outbreak of the crisis in Sudan. The Kingdom, in partnership with the United States, has led effective mediation through the "Jeddah Platform," which hosted rounds of negotiations between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, with the aim of reaching a ceasefire and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Kingdom views the stability of Sudan as an integral part of the security of the Red Sea and Horn of Africa region. In addition to political efforts, the Kingdom, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, has provided air and sea bridges to aid those affected by the war, thus reinforcing its leading role as a peacemaker and a major supporter of humanitarian work in the region.
