Saudi Arabia supports the Syrian energy sector with a large oil shipment

The first shipment of the grant provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the energy sector in the Syrian Arab Republic has arrived, as a tanker loaded with Saudi crude oil docked at the port of Banias, carrying about 650,000 barrels, representing the first installment of the grant totaling 1.65 million barrels of crude oil.

Saudi-Syrian cooperation in the field of energy

The delivery of this shipment to the Syrian side comes in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Development Fund, and the Syrian Arab Republic, represented by the Syrian Ministry of Energy, signed a grant agreement on September 11, which is being implemented and monitored under the supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Energy.

The impact of the grant on the Syrian economy

This grant aims to enhance the operation of Syrian refineries and achieve operational and financial sustainability, to support economic development and address economic challenges in Syria, enable vital sectors to grow, and support national and international efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
