The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session held today (Tuesday) in Riyadh. At the beginning of the session, the Cabinet reviewed the messages and communications exchanged with the leaders of brotherly and friendly countries, including the message sent by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz , to King Mohammed VI of Morocco , as well as the content of the telephone call received by the Crown Prince from King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan .
The Kingdom affirms its firm stance towards Gaza and Sudan
The Council expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's that the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit to strengthening regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip and achieving security and stability in the Middle East. It emphasized the necessity of alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people and supporting steps toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital .
The Cabinet also stressed the need for an immediate end to the war in Sudan , the preservation of its territorial integrity and national institutions, and the implementation of what was signed in the “Jeddah Declaration” signed in May 2023, in a step that reflects the active Saudi role in supporting regional stability.
Local decisions promote development and support professional competencies
On the domestic front, the Council approved amending the Accounting and Auditing Profession System and regulating the Saudi Authority for Auditors and Accountants , which contributes to developing the professional environment and raising the quality of financial and regulatory outputs, and enhances investor confidence in the Saudi market, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 .
Strengthening international and economic cooperation
Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari explained in his statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the Cabinet was briefed on the latest developments in the work of the joint committees between the Kingdom and a number of countries, and the progress achieved in the paths of bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, environment, innovation, education, statistics and tourism, stressing that these efforts contribute to supporting regional and international partnerships and achieving sustainable development.
The Scientific Forum for Hajj and Umrah Research: A Model of Innovation in Serving the Guests of God
The Council also commended the success of the 25th Scientific Forum for Hajj, Umrah and Visit Research , organized by Umm Al-Qura University under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and its innovative initiatives that enhance the quality of services provided to the guests of God and consolidate the Kingdom’s global position in managing the largest Hajj system in the world.
Congratulations to Professor Omar Yaghi on winning the Nobel Prize
In a related context, the Cabinet congratulated Saudi scientist Professor Omar bin Mounis Yaghi on winning the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry , in recognition of his scientific contributions to the development of metal-organic frameworks and covalent frameworks. The Cabinet affirmed that this achievement reflects the fruits of the support provided by the Saudi leadership to the research, development, and innovation system, and to empowering national talent within scientific and knowledge-based transformation .
New decisions and regulations that support national development
The Council adopted several resolutions, including signing memoranda of understanding with international institutions in the fields of energy, environment, and innovation; approving amendments to the National Development Fund's ; and tasking the Saudi Water Authority with the gradual operation and maintenance of small water purification plants. The Council also approved the establishment of a branch of the University of New Haven in Riyadh , which will support international higher education and foster a knowledge-based environment.
The Council concluded its session by approving a number of promotions and appointments to senior positions in the Ministries of Interior, National Guard and Islamic Affairs, stressing the continued support for national competencies in the administrative and organizational development process.
