With a population of 1.4 billion, India now ranks fourth among the world's largest economies, boasting a GDP exceeding $4 trillion. This economic rise was not accidental, but rather the result of sustained structural reforms, strong macroeconomic fundamentals, and a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.
While the global economy is experiencing a slowdown in growth rates, India continues to register growth rates close to 8%, reinforcing its position as a global hub for manufacturing and innovation. Massive investments in infrastructure—including highways, ports, and airports—are playing a crucial role in reshaping the Indian economic landscape and effectively integrating it into global supply chains.

India is leading the global digital economy, having moved from strengthening digital infrastructure and financial inclusion to pioneering future fields such as artificial intelligence. New Delhi is preparing to host the AI Impact Summit next February, which will bring together global leaders and experts to discuss the role of technology in serving people and the planet, with a particular focus on the role of developing countries in this endeavor.
These transformations are guided by an ambitious national vision known as “Vixit Bharat” (Developed India), which aims to transform India into a fully developed country by 2047, coinciding with the centenary of independence, with a focus on sustainable development and youth empowerment.
Saudi-Indian partnership: Harmonious visions
Externally, India-Saudi Arabia relations are experiencing a golden age of strategic cooperation, driven by mutual trust and deep historical ties. This relationship has evolved from a traditional trade exchange into a comprehensive strategic partnership encompassing defense, energy, technology, and food security.
Relations gained significant momentum following the historic visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the convening of the Strategic Partnership Council, which was expanded to include new ministerial committees focused on defense, tourism, and culture. India is now Saudi Arabia's second-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $42 billion during the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
Integrating Visions: Vision 2030 and Fixit Bharat
India’s development aspirations closely align with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. This synergy has created tremendous opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and defense manufacturing. More than 5,000 Indian companies operate in the Kingdom, contributing to vital sectors such as construction, information technology, and healthcare.
Defense cooperation has also witnessed remarkable development, represented by the first visit of the Saudi Chief of the General Staff to India, reflecting the shared desire to enhance regional security and stability.

The Indian community in the Kingdom, numbering over 2.7 million, plays a pivotal role in development and in building bridges of communication between the two countries.
