His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, inaugurated the Primary Healthcare Conference today (Sunday). The conference, organized by the Eastern Health Cluster in Dammam, will run for two days and features wide participation from leading specialists, experts, and stakeholders in the health sector. Its aim is to facilitate the exchange of expertise and review the latest developments in family medicine and primary care.
Leadership support for the health sector
In his address during the ceremony, the Governor of the Eastern Province affirmed that the generous and unlimited support the health sector receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister, clearly reflects the wise leadership's commitment to placing human health at the forefront of its priorities. His Highness noted that this commitment is manifested in providing all means for a dignified life for citizens and residents through continuous efforts to develop a comprehensive and sustainable healthcare system that ensures easy access to curative and preventative services.
Health transformation and Vision 2030
This conference is being held at a time when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is undergoing a qualitative transformation in its healthcare sector, perfectly aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program. The Kingdom seeks to restructure the sector into a comprehensive, efficient, and integrated healthcare system based on the health of the individual and society. Primary healthcare plays a pivotal role in this transformation, serving as the cornerstone and first line of defense in the healthcare system. Strengthening primary healthcare contributes to the early detection of diseases, the control of chronic illnesses, and the reduction of the burden on referral and specialized hospitals, thereby increasing spending efficiency and improving quality of life.

Prince Saud bin Nayef praised the comprehensive plan aimed at elevating healthcare services to meet international standards, emphasizing that the Kingdom's healthcare system relies primarily on the expertise of highly qualified national personnel, supported by modern and integrated technological equipment. He explained that investing in Saudi human capital is the optimal investment for building an advanced healthcare system that serves the community efficiently and effectively, and contributes to supporting the comprehensive development the country is witnessing across all sectors.
Conference activities and expert recommendations
Upon his arrival at the conference venue, the Governor of the Eastern Province toured an accompanying exhibition showcasing several projects and initiatives of the Eastern Health Cluster aimed at improving the patient experience. Following this, Essam Al-Muhaidib, Chairman of the Founding Council of the Eastern Health Sector, delivered a speech in which he expressed his appreciation for the Governor's patronage of the conference and emphasized the commitment of all participants to producing practical recommendations that would contribute to the development of the health sector's outcomes.
For her part, Dr. Huda Mahini, Head of the Conference's Scientific Committee, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of scientific platforms for exchanging expertise, sharing success stories, and discussing challenges, all of which contribute to developing healthcare practices and improving the treatment experience for beneficiaries. The ceremony included a visual presentation highlighting the conference's objectives and the most prominent scientific papers presented. It concluded with His Royal Highness the Prince of the Eastern Province honoring the organizing bodies and working committees, and receiving a commemorative shield on this occasion.
